I have a 1999 nickel but the 1 is missing date reads 999?
Answers:
If it was done outside the Mint, then it won't be worth more than face value. Check for the area around the date, see if there's any sign of filing or alteration. Else if the 1 was missing during minting process, then you have a "filled die" error coin that occurred when grease and dirt ended up on the die and obstructed the 1 from being struck. Most filled die errors are common due to the environment at the production facility and do not add a premium to a coin's value, except those that feature a major obstruction of the coin’s design. If the 1 on your nickel is partly visible or weak, then it carries no premium, else if it's completely missing then expect $1 or less.
Nope, probably not, unless the price of nickel itself exceeds the face value of the coin.
it's probably rubbed off. that coin is a bit old, so yeah.
there are people out there who would pay soo much for that coin on ebay, lol
