If your are taking about using it the U.S.
You might be able to use it two ways at some merchants. You hit the credit button and sign for your purchase.
You hit the atm/debit button and enter your pin for your purchase.
Both methods will come out of your current account.
I would recommend Wal-mart because they take most cards.
What you do. Enter your pin, choose up to $100.00 for cash back. If the pin pad does not come up, you can not use your card as a pin transaction. You could hit cancel and ask cashier to bring up the pin pad by force. You might want to ask them to do that before you slide the card.
PIN transactions at some merchants you can get cash back.
signature transactions you can not get cash back.
You can use your card at most merchant that take Visa credit card. You sign for your purchase (Some places you don't even need to sign). Like I said above at some places you would choose credit button. If you debit card offers you rewards, that is the transaction you would choose.
If using atms. Try selecting machines that won't eat your card and choose primary credit not primary checking even through it will come out of your current account.
Let your bank know that you will be using the card in the U.S. and take your banks phone number with you in case you have problems using the card.
