How is calculus used in business?

I am an accountant, using math all the time, but don't need calculus!
I think people use calculus when doing engineering or aerospace jobs (NASA folks) !!

i had to take 4 calculus classes in school.. and trust me. it is just a requisite or something to make you suffer. You dont ever need to know how to derivate or the equation of something in your real life, not unless you get a job as a teacher!

Okay. in 99.99999% of business, it's not. There are a few businesses that need/use it. but very few.
If you are interested in going into an industry that utilizes calculus.and you are good at calculus. then, when you're in college you will see "corporate recruiters" coming to campus looking for you (gov't jobs, tech industry, "back room" financial jobs, etc)
*I have 7 different financial industry licenses, used to do "accounting" for corporations, never needed calculus.not once!*
They dont it was just some damn nerd in the past that wanted to expand his knowledge in math and decided everyone else should, u you dont use it, its just made to just know how to do not use. thats what i think
Calculus is used in nearly every type of business optimization issue out there. Business, Finance, and Economics all use it. Accounting doesn't use calculus directly - statistics are used in auditing but you don't have to know how to derive them.
i don't think it is used in business.
Calculus is used for all types of production planning. In my 700 level classes we did it all long hand. Computers now do the math.
But it is used daily.
I am an engineer and an MBA. Calculus is not directly used in business unless you are a derivatives trader etc. but the concepts of calculus are used all the time. for example the rate of change of one variable with respect to another..
now in engineering, differentiation and integration are used all the time, in the form of equations.
but in general, knowing calculus helps, just like knowing geometry helps. e.g. in a game of pool.

As an example, you will frequently find that certain financial decisions need to be made that require the discovery of maximums and minimums of various functions. (e.g. maximize revenue, minimize cost, etc.)
These local extremes can be calculated by finding the first derivatives of the functions and solving them for zero (0).
