Claim for sports injury?

my son has just been put in hospital with his tibia and fibula bones broken in a football match with a nasty tackle, can we claim compensation or is it just one of those things, he will be off work for weeks now.

Answer:
Professional and semi-professional footballers (and other sports persons) have insurance and this type of insurance is available to Sunday league players and people who just play for a hobby.
I'm guessing your son doesn't have any.
My advice is don't tell the employer how it happened as they may not pay him sick pay!
If the player who committed the challenge was booked then you can ask to see the referee's match report and if this states the tackle was illegal you can ask for the FA to investigate and may get some compensation this way - this would be a lengthy process.
I think it's worth while getting your son to take out insurance for the future and just hope he has a speedy recovery!
just one of them things and this why our government keeps on putting up taxes.
Its an accident if it were not then then perhaps you should sue the one who did it
Where I come from, it is illegal to play organised sport without the club ensuring ALL players are suitably insured(Usually covered by the membership fee)
Did your son sign an insurance form?
Your sons work insurance may cover the loss of income but not the medical costs.
