How does the up system work in a retail store?

When someone comes into pay the balance on a deposit and the person who made that sale is busy, who get the commission and who gets or loses an up position.

Answer:
It depends on the stores policy, but usually whoever makes the sale gets the credit.

sometimes, however, it gets split.

I've also seen where when the customer goes in, the salesperson who's turn (up) it is finds out the situation and lets the original salesperson know the situation. The original salesperson then has to make a decision. take the sure thing (customer that just walked in) or finish with his current customer. In either event you would then get the other customer at full commission.
ususally each sales person has a number and at each register there is a list of everyone working in that department, so when the person ringing you up (if different fromthe person who helped you) they ring it under the person who helped you, so the commission goes to the right person.
