I'm playing the stock market game for economics. How do I know which stocks I should buy?

Any suggestions? What factors about the companies contribute to how well their stocks are performing? I'm kind of new to the whole idea.

Answer:
Go to Investopedia.com

They have a good references and recommendations and a simulator you can play too.

You are probably looking for a short-term Buy, so you want something that is in an Uptrend. Go to Yahoo Finance and enter the stock symbol to see a chart, and buy a stock that has pulled back to an Uptrend line or made a Double Bottom, for a short-term surge.

Can you short stocks? Play the downside also. But the market is in a strong Uptrend, so you should probably just play the Long side, unless the Uptrend on the Dow is broken. Watch for that. Pull up a chart of the DJIA, print it out and draw your Uptrend Line under price, and keep it updated.
