I got a letter in the mail today, what does it mean?
"Sorry you werent home, call this number regarding checks we are holding for you." the number was an illinois number, and they didnt answer. Any idea what this could be?
Answer:
Try searching Google or Yahoo for the phone number use this format and the quotation marks, "123-123-1234"
If it is a often used scam, or a legitimate company, you should be able to find info on them.
Unless you recently ordered new check for your checking account odds are it is a total scam.
Be careful out there
Scam
If you don't recognize the sender, presume a scam.
I believe the US Postal Service takes a rather dim view of mail-fraud...You might ask them to inquire into this.
Good Luck!
Report it as mail fraud. They're going to ask for credit info.
either a scam or one of those door to door sales things.either way, don't bother with it.
Call it from a payphone to see what it is.
do not respond to that, if this was for real, the sender would be clear about why they have checks for you. if you called that number, i can almost gurantee that they would request personal information such as bank account numbers, social securty numbers and any other numbers that you should never be giving out. i would also report this to the post office. have you ever considered having junk mail filtered out of your mail deliveries by the post office?
Don't go for it. It's a scam.
