Has anyone heard of the Atlantic Lottery commission? I received a check from them. I'm not sure about it.

The letter is short said I won some money. Also said to call a number. I called, but the office will be open on Monday. I am going to be busy for two days and possibly no time to call. Curiosity is getting to me. Is this a scam? ty

Answer:
Look on the back of the check where you endorse it. Is there a bunch of fine print other than "Do not sign below this line"? If there is a lot of fine print do not sign and try to cash it before you read it very carefully.
If there is no fine print, take it to your bank and let someone there check it out for you.
IT IS A HOAX. DID YOU ENTER A LOTTERY? PROBABLY NOT. IF YOU HAVE TO CALL THEM TO VERIFY THAT YOU WON A LOTTERY YOU DID NOT ENTER, IT IS NOT A REAL THING. IT IS A HOAX THROW OUT THE LETTER.
Check It Out Anyway,U Never Know,Just Do Not Give Them Any Money..
Call your state police department. Have you played anything that you should have won? If not, then it will more than likely be a skam. Be very careful because they are usually persistant if they are a con and can manipulate you easily. The police will help.
If you don't recognize it as a lottery that you entered, it is fake and a a scam, they probably want money from you, your bank account number, etc. Do NOT give it to them.

If you did not enter the lottery throw it away.
SCAM!
