Can I be sued for defamtation of character if the information in the defamation is true?

I am in a position at work where I can suffering constant mental abuse and sexual harassment from my employer. The employer has also lied in order to to have a reason to discipline me, and they have removed part of my leave entitlement without permission or with me having any time off.

I am about to leave the company but wish to send a "farewell" email to other staff and stakeholders outlining the mistreatment I have received from my employer. This information will no doubt hurt the company and my bosses reputation however it will be 100% true.

Am I liable to be sued for public defamation if i send such an email?

- Cheers, Frustrated!

If you're in doubt about it being a possibility, then maybe you should just leave that part out of your email. Hindsight is always 20/20 on these kinds of things too. Why take a chance?
You can be sued whether it's true or not, but you will win if it is true.
Keep a record of everything that has happened, and invest in a tape recorder to record any conversations with that man (don't tell him you have it, though-- it'll be your defence in the future, and it'll come as a surprise if you do have to use any tape recordings).

Edit: GrahamH, you're right... it depends on the law in your province/state. Some places allow you to tape someone without their knowledge. In other areas you need consent to do so. The best bet would be to consult a lawyer or a legal aid clinic.
You need to be able to prove it without a shadow of a doubt.
Document everything. Say good bye but keep your e-mail brief. Save everything for an attorney. Then sue their pants off. The truth will be known at the time when it is most to your advantage.
Don't resign, just make their life hell.

Harrass them back.

Buy a dictaphone and openly record every conversation with a manager or supervisor. Go from there. Don't back down. Start a diary. Speak to HR.
if it true its not defamation.
