It's a German based company so it stands for something in German. I know the first word is 'Deutsche', which is 'German' in their native German language. It's part of the Deutsche Post.

By the way, a humor site states "DHL stands for Dumped, Hidden, or Lost"! =D
DHL comes from the first letters of the last names of the three company founders, Adrian Dalsey, Larry Hillblom and Robert Lynn.
