What should a manager do to develop and keep good relationships with their colleagues and manager?

Answers:
Listen to them. Encourage everyone to work together. Never get personal or talk about extremely personal things. Don't let anyone get away with hurting anyone else on "the team." Stick up for everyone on the team and always be honest about teammates' flaws, but present them in a positive light or as if its being worked on, when talking about it with others who are critical. There's more, but these are some I've seen in a good manager.
Learn to stand in their shoes and see the job through their eyes
Do a business management course
Do a business communication course

I did all three and the skills gained were invaluable
