i have a small business which does not make any money which means i cant afford to advertise it. what is the cheapest way to advertise it?

Answer:
i think advertising on the radio is a great way as most people listen to it not sure what it costs though soz
FAX or e-mail
get business cards into the hands of your friends
and relatives and ask them to hand them out
satisfied customers spreading the news
Not sure what kind of business it is but a good way to advertise is to make flyers and put them on people doors.dont touch there mailbox though. But this will definetly increase your sales.
maybe a cheap and a low cost way for you to advertise is by putting your company on community bullteins for instance supermarket, laundermat, and much more. You can also hand a sign in your car, community colleges, and much more. Start slow to go big. Other form of advertising costs money and you should take it slow and see how this works. Also remember that the best advertising tool today is WORD OF MOUTH!
if it is in music... research about spiralfrog. they will b sellin mp3's, legally, 4 free, as long as u watch 90 secs worth of adverts. it wont cost much.... it is up and running in nov
Free advertising is possible on many sites.

You may make money by using Google Adsense.

If you got a website or a web-blog, you could make money with putting advertisements on your site (by google). If someone clicks on these ads, you will earn money.

If you don't have a website, you may start creating web-blogs (mostly free) with advertisements (google ads) on it.

You may sell things at Ebay. Some people do business with Ebay and they just live on income from ebay. You may like to look at it.

sell it on ebay
send sms or notice papers about your business!
Cheapest and easiest to maintain is the business card.

They are very inexpensive and essential. They can be left and distributed in many ways. They should contain all the informatina a potential client needs when he is ready to make a purchasing desision.

Who you are
What you offer
How to contact you
Phone
Address
Fax
Website & email

Really, not much more than that. Dont fill the card from edge to edge with text. Catchy graphics and such can be great, but the good ones will cost more and you shouldn't trust anyone but a qualified designer to create one.

A waste of money would be a card that can't be read, does not tell what product or service is offered, and is not personalized with the name of a real person.

Next cheapest, self sustaining method is a good website, with your own domain name. Again, stick with the providers that give you good templates. You shouldn't attempt to design your own with out he help of a good designer. A BAD website loses clients.
you dont say what your business is, which means we cant really answer ur question in the best way.

you have to reach your target audience, so if you have a building business, advertise in building magazines, if you repair jewelry, advertise in jeweler's magazines.
Specialised Magazines that are for trade are a great way to get to a large target audience.

we really need to know what you do - can you put it in your Added Details please? I can probably help you more then
depending on what industry you are in, advertising can be as crucial as electricity and to say that you cant afford it, you may as well close your doors now and cut your losses.

find a way, hold a community event like a bbq or some sort of fundraiser that gets you local news/media coverage. get some college or university student involved, they love causes/events

back to my first point, if you are a small business that does not make ANY money, why not just shut down and get a real job?
If it's newsworthy your local newspapers, radio stations and TV companies will want to mention you, for free. Is it? If so tell them.
Even very big companies do this, to promote themselves, as well as using the expensive media. It's called Press Relations and the local (and national) papers, radio etc are riddled with it! Good luck - keep it legal, clean, honest and truthful!
there are many sites which offer free advertisment space.

you can also create a blog or participate in e-zines

word of mouth. cold canvassing/calling still works. slow but can lead to referrals for the long run.

Business Network International, find out from your local CC about various chapters meeting in your area. It is strictly a biz-biz referral group. They only allow 1 member per industry to join the group. So, say you are a graphic designer, once you are in, you are locked in as the only graphic designer. There is a one time application fee and either an one-year or two-year membership fee. Their motto, "givers gain". Look pass the fees, think about long term relationships and a good size "sales force" at your side. I'm checking one out and I am hoping that things will work out such that I can join them. 200 some referrals for about 30 of them in the month of July alone! That's almost 7 referrals per member that month or almost 2 referrals per member per week! Think that'd keep you busy?
Word of mouth and publicity are free. Business cards - especially if you print them yourself are cheap. Leaflets can be cheap too and a small web site can be advertised on the business cards and leaflets. The small website could be done with free space provided by your ISP. Look at the website I set up with the space from my ISP - only 15Mb - but I packed a bit of stuff in by avoiding fancy Flash and stuff.
if your business is unusual, and relatively new, try to get some free publicity in the local press. also, sell some products at cost-price to bring in customers
Hi,

SImple, use free/low cost methods to advertise! Both work if you choose the right methods.
