Would you be a car salesman or a security agent?

Although this may be an off the wall question, this is the dillemma that I presently find myself in. Although the car salesman job has a greater earning potential, my entire salary is based on what I sell. Of course, the security agent position would be consistent and dependable, but it wouldn't pay as much as the car salesman would on what I've heard as the average.

At the prsent I am totally not on my feet and am trying to get back there as soon as possible.

What would you do...?

You need to look at yourself and figure out which job you think you would enjoy more. Do you think you would be a good salesman? Is it easy for you to talk to people and do you think you can close a sale? Of course, you'll get some training if you take the sales job but personality has a lot to do with it too. Can you live for a few weeks without a paycheck? If you sell cars strictly on commission then you might go the first few weeks without a check and/or you might have dry spells off and on. You might sell a car next week but not sell any for the next couple of weeks. The security job would be dependable and you would know what your pay is going to be from week to week. As a security guard you don't have to be a good salesman. If you're a people person you might enjoy the sales job but if you keep more to yourself then you might like the security job. Think about yourself and write down the pros and cons of each job and then decide.
Get an education.
Go with the security agent for now, but get some schooling, or training so that you have more career choices
well my dads a car salesman and yes it dose depend on what you sale to how much money you make. you could $3,000 one week and $500 the next. and if you sell a used car you could get a 5 pounder (or a lot of money such as $4,000) on one car. but you do have to lie to be a car salesmen. so if you dont like lieing i would not take it. but me, i would go for car salesmen. plus its more fun!!!
Beings your finances are not that great at this time, I was going to say go with the car dealership. But, I changed my mind, I think you should go with the security job and work on a better education to open other avenues. I just think that you really wouldn't do that great as a sales person.I've seen jobs like these before, but car salesmen, it takes a while to get the spill down, unless your very mechanically inclined and can really talk to people about fuel injection and how many cylinders and so on and so on
