Has anyone heard about COOPEC BANK in Abidjan - Cote D'ivoire? Where is this?
Answer:
This is part of an "advance fee"or "419" scam. You have no doubt been asked to help move a large amount of money from Cote D'ivoire to a western union country.
This in itself is illegal so you will be very unlikely to tell anybody about the deal ,therefore alienating yourself from anyone that might tell you that you are being scammd.
The large amount of money doesn't exist. You might be shown pictures, passports, documents etc to prove the existence of the money and the identity of the "barristers""lawyers""and "poor orphan refugees"(with nothing to eat except for a hi speed Internet connection!)
Have a look at http://www.george.site.btinternet.co.uk/.
He is a scambaiter..(www.scambaits.com.
my advice..drop them immediately
Cote D'ivoire is French for "Ivory Coast". Abidjan is a city in the Ivory Coast in Africa.
why do you require this information? Dont misunderstand i also need the same info. so i want to know whether its the same reason why we both want to know @this bank.
It doesn't happen to be from Ms. Vivian Andrews, does it?
This is a fradulent email in any case, this bank does not exist.
In order to stop the emails advise them that your attorney is requesting proper documentation for the transfer of funds.
It is always best to try to stick with the legal route in tempting emails such as these. An individual that is trustworthy and honest would not object to you doing what is necessary to protect your assets. They try to play on what they believe to be American's number one weakness: greed. Don't get sucked in, show them that you are intelligent.and play by the book.
Tell them to have their lawyer contact your lawyer. And let's face it, if they REALLY had access to 1.5 million dollars or more.they would have a lawyer, or at least know of one they can use in a pinch.
If you really want to nip this in the bud, get all the information you can.including IP address, and forward this info to the secret service. They have a special department that deals with email and internet fraud/scams.
Good luck!
OH, and I have to add this link for your entertainment. It is quite funny, and I hope that it gives you a general idea about these kind of scams and how you can deal with them.
