Chartered Accounting or Corporate Law?
Answer:
Whoever chided you for using Yahoo Answers for your question doesn't understand that there is no bad question. Use every resource you can, no one assumes that the responses you receive here will be the only items to affect your decision.
To answer your question, you need to seriously reflect on what motivates you. The two professions are completely different and tend to attract different types of professionals.
I can only make a case for the Chartered Accountant, as that was my experience. I chose this profession for exactly what it offered me: mobility. As a CPA, I had a universe of opportunities available to me, and was always in very high demand. I worked for Fortune 500 companies and was able to see the world. Also, as an accountant you are involved in practically every aspect of a business: sales, distribution, marketing, etc. in one way or another.
As an accountant you have an opportunity to see all the cycles of the corporation and provide real value. Also, there is an entirely different aspect, and that is you can always be self-employed. After 15 years in Corporate Accounting, I am now a consultant and highly paid.
I generally like to avoid conflicts, and it seems that law is frequently involved in conflict. However, you may enjoy that aspect of the profession.
Also, Accounting is FAR from boring. Much of accounting is very discretionary, and it is the tool by which top management is measured. Believe me, at the higher echelons of accounting, you find yourself is some very compelling situations.
Most definitely corporate law.
