I have an interview for a personal assistance job, is it safe?

i found it on an employment search site, the person has a home office and gave me a legit email to answer back to him, an email from a school/company.

iam frankly a bit skeptical but im desperate for a job.

Answer:
Tell someone where you are going, the address, what time you are supposed to be there and what time you anticipate leaving, just in case this is shady. Ask plenty of questions. The job may be legit but things may be wierd. Just be careful and protect yourself. Recently here in Wisconsin a woman went to take pictures of a car at a salvage lot and was murdered there.
I once went on a job interview for a similar type of job and it was really weird. I did not take the job.
money's money.
Tell someone where you are going, and have them call you one hour after, just to check on you. Or have someone drive you there and wait in the car.
ask a friend to drive you there and wait for you outside the residence while u interview; it's always good to go with your first instincts.
take someone with you to the interview if it is at his home.. and be careful , ask allot of questions and get refrences from other employees!
Only you can decide. Go with your instincts.
Go w/ your gut, but don't follow fear. If you don't think you would like to work under those circumstances, bag it.
If you get a funny feeling when you interview, don't take the job.
Simple!
have someone go with and wait out in the car or near the corner tell them to call you if your not out of therein a half hour better safe then sorry you know nothing about this perso be careful
NO it is not safe who knows what kind of person he or she is how bout if they are lying i wouldn't go for it until i meet those people in a busy place. were there are a bunch of people.
Go for the interview and if you're still skeptical, don't take the job if offered.
I don't quite know what kind of job that is, but you should never do such an interview in someones home. If you are nervous ask to meet at a Starbucks or something. If it is legit they will agree. If not run..
Just be careful and make sure someone knows where you are.. Make sure to have your cell phone with you at all times. Or have someone take you. and if thing get weird get the heck outta there.. Good luck and be careful
If the e-mail is a school address, why will this guy have a home office, this assistant job can be very personal, better read the job description, and if you go let someone take you, there is weird people out there.
avoid too much work make sure you avoid sexual harrassment/ relations and dont let the boss be a jerk or it will get annoying nad dont be dessperate for a job
NO. SEX OFFENDER ALERT! GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE AND RUN!!
Do a google search on this employers name.
I think you know the answer - go with your first gut feeling. If you are still unsure, have someone drive you. My husband always drive me to interviews, not because of this, but you never know about people these days.
my dad has a personal assistant, its a cool job.
go check it out. then decide.
The best thing to do is request that the interview be somewhere else. Meet at a restaurant, or a Starbucks. Explain why (that your Mom always told you better safe than sorry, or whatever), they will appreciate that you are honest and smart. I think that it would look badly on you if you were irresponsible enough to go to someones house when you don't know them.
Just be careful. I would ask for referrals & check them out. I would ask the neighbors too.
Maybe odd someone could go with you in a car and wait while you are inside for the interview otherwise let alot of people know where you are going. good luck, if it works out
I met my boss in his home and this is the best job I've ever had. On the other hand, there could be some freaks out there who use the "job offer" as a cover up for a rape or something.

It might be wise to request of the person that they meet you in a very public place, such as Starbucks, restaurant, etc.

Good luck.
I once I worked for a company and it was like a personal assistance job. It ment that I helped him with all the personal mail and also kept my ears open so as to let him know if there was anything he needed to address. Had to do all typing ,letters and run different errands. You should check on what the job intales tho before you take it.
I agree with the have someone bring you and wait path of logic. Also, you could do a drive by of the location ahead of time. I know someone that has started up their own business as a personal assistant and it is going good for them. You might consider getting a business license and making a career out of this type of work if you like it. Contracting would make things easier on those who might want to use your services and allow you to protect yourself and be above board as well. There REALLY are legit jobs for this type of work out there, I applied to one once and it would have been fine if I had been given the job. There is also a chance it could be something else, so just be careful and take reasonable precautions. I think a pre-interview drive by and then having someone come with is reasonable. I would also make plans ahead of time just in case like "I will NOT ask you to come inside with me or tell you to leave, so if I come to the door and motion for you to come in or leave call 911 and get help FAST!" Better safe than sorry, and no sense passing up a golden opportunity. Hope this helps.
You really just have to find out as much as possible about this. Go with your gut feeling but if you dont think its worth it or if you dont feel comfortable about it maybe consider something else.
You should have someone go with you and wait in the car while you interview. Good Luck!
