My employer mailed my check. I never got it. Do I have to pay the stop payment or them for a new one?

Why should you stop payment when you DIDN'T write the check? People who stop payment is the person who wrote the check.
No - the issuer of the check does that.
yeah you shouldn't have to pay the stop payment, you didn't write it. your employer should be happy to make you a new check, or you can take them to small claims court. though I hope they would never let it get that far. (the fee would be tax deductible for your employer anyway)
That has happened to me before. I would say that payment may have to be stopped. And that will delay the process even longer. The feeling sucks because you managed to show up and do the job everyday and then the employer fails to do only the one simple thing they must do- to pay you! And in the meantime your bills just keep coming. And collectors don't accept the late check thing as an excuse. It blows.
I'm assuming your employer mailed you your pay check? If that is the case, they would have to stop payment on the check, and they have to issue you a new one immediately. This is something that will have to be brought to your employers attention.
Oh, but if you end up getting the stopped check and the replacement, dont deposit the stopped on, depending on where you live, you could get fined or even charged, as in the police will explain to you why you shouldnt be cashing stopped checks. lol.. But anyways.. good luck.
