I have lost the deeds to my house and am not sure where to start or who to contact about this?
Answer:
In England you can go to the Land Registry and get knew documents for a fee.there will be an agency you can do this for in any country in the world.need to talk to your soliciter or broker.he will point you in the right direction..
Estate agencies also face this problem all the time, an easy way of getting it is to lie abit and tell an estate agent that you want to sell your house.they will do the running around and get the paperwork straight as they want the sale!

without knowing where you are, there is no way to answer this - the rules are different everywhere in the world and even from state to state
Contact the title company that handled the closing. Also check the County recorder office.
In the UK it could be that your mortgage company is holding them.
Your deed to your house is also recorded in city hall so not to worry.Go to city hall and get a copy of it if you would like.
A deed on a house is not like a deed on a car where you can just sign it over and wha la you own it. An attorney must record the deed at city hall of it to be valid and public record and it must be correctly witnessed and such. So just because you dont have the deed with you doesnt mean you do not own your house.
If you have an attorney call him or her and ask them about your lost deed so to put your mind at ease.
Contact the county records office, which may or may not be located in the local court house. Also contact the person who drew up the deeds.
