Also, consider signing up for an affiliate program. These programs enable you to advertise on other's sites (your affiliates) and once a sale is made to you, your affiliates & the program are paid a commission.

Place ads in your local newspapers - not just the times, but in local jounal type papers.
Go around your hood, and offer your services. Drop off your business cards with cookies, candies, or whatnots so that people will remember to call you for your services.
Join a local women entrepreneur club/group. They will typically meet once or twice a month for breakfast. It would be great for you to start to network that way.
Also, there are business leaders groups that have regular breakfast/lunch meetings.

Well it's not 100% free, but print up business cards and flyers and pass arround. you can get these made up pretty cheap or print them your self,
I would get a proffesional looking card made.

Write to every business reporter that works at a weekly newspaper (those site around langer and have more loyal readers) in a fifty mile radius from where you live. Approach them as a student and explore your idea with them. It makes them feel valuable and they may become great word-of-mouth advertisers for you, and they do want to work at a daily newspaper and are keen to get ahead. Finally, go to Craig's List (the local eBay) and sell/barter your services there. The get the best reporter to tell your story.
