What is appropriate business attire for lawyers?
Does material matter? I have a few 100% polyester suits that are conservatively styled, dark colors, and are fully lined. Does it matter that they are not a wool blend?
Are 3/4 sleeve blazers appropriate for women to wear to an interview/work?
Also, is a dark charcoal brown color suit acceptable?
Thanks for your help!
Answer:
Check out a book called Dressing for Success. It talks all about dressing for your field.
It depends on the firm you are applying for. High profile or high end firm you wouldn't want to wear Polyester. Whereas, a public defenders office you could.I wouldn't wear poly unless it was very good quality, same as wool. Same goes with 3/4 sleeves. Brown is also ok as long as you put cream/ivory etc and not stark white with it. Coordinate shoes and make sure they are well cared for and not showing wear. One of the things I look at when I interview someone is the condition of their shoes! They can be immaculate but shoes look bad..that makes me wonder how detail oriented they are..
Could you send me your business card please ? I want to make sure i never hire you for legal work if you do not know how to dress .
Anything with large stripes....and loose enough for ankle and wrist hardware.......
