Because they are to cheep!
Depending on the region one's business is located, certain renewable energies will not be available. There isn't much wind in my area, nor raging rivers, so that knocks out the possibility of wind and hydro power. Solar PVs would do well here, due to the high solar intensity levels, however our electricity rates are quite low through contract. As a result, an investment in solar PVs would yield a payback of roughly 30 years. Not a good return on investment, as it's questionable if the panels would continue to function that long at their designed efficiency.

However, barring finances, solar PVs make sense when viewed from and environmental point of view.
Financially, it costs too much. It is much cheaper to buy power conventionally, then pay for high cost, low output solar panels. Hopefully these costs will come down. I would like to see a way to recover the heat from the hot water that goes down the drains during a persons shower. That hot water should be held in a tank and have the heat connected to the homes heating system, and then released after all heat is recovered..
