Is a subcontractor required by law to provide drinking water?

I was under the impression that contractors had to provide their field employees with drinking water but not ice. Is this true?

Answers:
most people that work construction, are smart enough to bring their own water...
Laws vary between countries, states, and provinces. You should contact your local workplace insurance board, or health and safety regulatory agency.
