Why does Scandinavia boast the highest per-capita coffee consumption in the world? - In particular Finland?
Answer:
Because it's dark and depressing and there is nothing to do and the booze is very expensive.
And more to the point it doesn't - the measurement of per capita means how much coffee each person drinks so you multiply that number by the number of people to get the total coffee consumption relegating these countries to much lower places in the "coffee consumers" table.
I am only a layman on this topic, but I would presume that the temperature would have a lot to do with coffee consumption. I know that when I'm cold, I drink cup after cup of the stuff! And I would think it gets quite cold in Finland during the winter cos Santa Claus comes from there, my mom told me!
