What's the difference between Intellectual Property and Intellectual Property Rights?

More specifically, is a patent an intellectual property or intellectual property right??

Answers:
I'm not sure, it's been a long time ago since I was in law school.

by the very nature of the word "property" it is used to describe something you could trade (sell and or buy) and hence the legal ownership would go to another person.

However certain rights are not transferable, they remain with the artist. This is the right to put his name on the work, the right to keep a work private (not public), the right that his work is not altered without his approval. I'm sure there are more such rights, but I cannot remember.

A patent seems to be "intellectual property" because it refers to an industrial process.
