I have no credit at all and need to open a bank account in uk.any ideas?

What does your credit have to do with opening a bank account?
Go to the bank with your money, give the bank associate your information (opening a checking or savings account) and they will make out the neccesary paperork, you sign them and you are set.
You dont need credit, you just need proof of ID (passport etc) and proof of address (bill, lease etc)
you would probably be best getting a building society account or post office account. thats what my mum had to do when she went bankrupt.
Why do you need credit to open an account, unless you're planning on taking out a loan.
If you don't have credit because you're young and have just not begun to have one yet, then borrow and pay back on time and you'll develop good credit.
If you don't have credit because your credit is bad, then you shouldn't be going under any more debt.

a few of the banks do a basic bank acount for people with poor credit histories. lloyds tsb is a good one. you will need proof of address and photo i.d, ie passport or driving licence. you cannot go overdrawn or have loans etc, but you can have your wages paid into the a/c and set up standing orders etc. you will also have a cash point card, but not a switch or credit card. when you have run this account for a while you will then be able to apply for a current a/c with all of the benefits that go with it.
if you need an account for benefits to be paid into you can have a post office account that is just for this, you cannot go overdrawn or have wages paid in, but its a good secure place to have your money and easy to withdrwl form thousands of p/offices.
