HOW do you use shipping labels on ebay goods?

i know how to print them, enter the info, etc. but when i come to the WEIGHT part, i dont know what to put. am i supposed to just go out and buy a scale somewhere? what do i do? i don't want to go to the post office every day.

please do not refer me to the ebay website and all that. it does not answer this question.

If its a small item you can buy a postal scale at Walmart for a couple of bucks.Larger items weigh on your bathroom scale,however,if you go to the post office you can stock up(for free)on their flat rate boxes and envelopes.If you mail online at www.usps.com,the carrier will pick them up from your house for free and you get free delivery confirmation.Also you can have it so the buyer is emailed you have shipped.The envelopes are about $4.30,and the large boxes are about $8.10.And those flatrate are priority so your buyer should receive them in 2-3 days.
