How do credit collection company's get paid? they call me but I still pay the store who takes the money.?
Are they trying to scare me?
Answer:
If the collection agent collects your maoney, they get paid, if not, not a penny. They are trying to get you to send the money directly to them so they can charge the client (who who owe the money to) their collection fee. Tell the person that you are paying the debt directly to the store and to stop calling you or you will report them to your local better business bureau or to your local attorney generals office. If they keep calling, follow through. Do not allow these people to harrass you, and remind them that there are laws concerning harrassment. Also, tell the store that you are paying that the collection agency is contantly telling you to pay them. Eventually, the collection agent will accept defeat.
pay your bills you loser.
The store probably didn't tell them the debt is paid. Send collections a copy of your final payment for the debt and they should leave you alone.
I have to admit the collection agencies are pretty stupid.
You should be paying the COLLECTION AGENCY and not the store directly.
It sounds like the store has already turned over or sold your account to a collection agency.
You should take collections seriously because these people can sue you if they so desire.
If you did, in fact, pay off the account, you'll need to send them a copy of your statements showing that the account is indeed paid in full. Somehow I feel you are behind on payments and continuing to send your payments to the creditor -- this isn't how it works.
The store essentially wrote you off and sold your account to a collection agency for a percentage of what you owe. The collection agency owns the debt now, and you should be paying them, since the store has already been settled with when they sold it. Are you getting receipts from the store? If they are taking your money instead of directing you to the collection agency, they are taking it by fraud. At least talk to an attorney before you wind up paying this debt twice.
