good question i am going through something simialar. i pay what i can student loan a priority.
Open a secured credit card, buy a car with subprime auto financing that reports to the credit bureau. Take care of the student loan before you deal with the other collections. Once the student loan has been taken care of, settle the rest of your collection accounts at the same time.
Not sure if you've heard of her, but Suze Orman has a ton of valuable advice on the subject. I'm sure a lot of the sites out there will lead back to one of her books or trying to sell something. But for the most part, you should be able to gain a good amount of advice without buying any of the books. I think there's even an online section on her website that lets you ask direct questions. Good luck!
the easiest way should be to get into an agreement with the debtors on a monthly payment and ask them to put a notice that you are paying back the loan, this will improve your score, but not repair it, you'll have to wait a while.
Try also not to make your credit record worse by defaulting etc
No smart awnsers here, I know what it is like to have bad credit.
Try these people out. I am in the mortgage business and they have helped a lot of my clients with issues like yours.

Do you have a Meyers Norris Penny near you ? Or do you have a place where you can go to get FREE help to get out of debt ? My auntie said that MNP charges $600. (This is Cdn tho) that you could have used towards your debt. Or you can go to your city hall & ask them who to talk to bout getting out of debt. (I think that that's what my auntie was talking bout. I went to a workshop on how to start your own business & she said where to go, I think that's where) Btw, I am in no debt whatsoever, lol. I asked a Q bout obtaining credit.

what ever you do, pay the school loan. most school loans with garnish something whether it's your pay or your taxes. if it has been a couple of years for the other debts that have gone to collections, forget about them and try to put some money back. when i had bad credit the only thing i could get approved for was store cards and it took some time for me to be able to do just that. get a secured card and try some store cards. dispute some trade lines on your credit report and see if any come off.
Need more information before I could give a decent answer.
How much are your other debts? How delinquent are they?
What state do you live in?
My first thought is to see if you can get the student loans deferred a couple years and pay off your other debts. Then once those are paid, work real hard on the student loans.
You need to quit getting more credit until this is fixed. Adding more loans and credit cards are just making it worse.
Other solution is (if you can) get a consolidation loan from a bank or credit union. But if you have a lot of credit card debt this probably won't be possible.
No smart * answers here. I've been where you are and it's no fun. Credit can be repaired but it does take some work. The first thing you need to do is get a recent copy of your credit report. You can get a free credit report and credit score at http://smart-money-help.com/free-credit-. . Even if you have seen your credit report you need to request a new one. Things get added to the report all the time and some of them might not be accurate. Getting rid of the errors and challenging everything is the next step in fixing things. Also, you don't need to pay someone to fix your credit report. There is nothing someone else can do that you can't do yourself. That same website also offers a free credit repair kit. The free kit and the free credit report are all you need to start getting your credit repaired. You can get the free credit repair kit at http://smart-money-help.com/free-credit-. . As I said, you can do this.I did, but it takes some work.
