Credit card debt, and will be moving overseas.?

I have about $3000 in credit card bills, and I have to relocate overseas for bout 2 or 3 years. Does anyone know if anything drastic will happen if I don't, or can't pay it all off?

Answers:
If you are planning to be out of the country for a long time, then you can take a chance and default on your payments. It will wreck your credit and depending on the creditor, they may pursue a legal levy against any assets you may have in the US. However, if you are planning to return the US in a few years time, I suggest pay them off before you leave or work a payment schedule with the creditors and save yourself the pain of coming back to the US with a horrible credit.
The same thing will happen if you are in the country or not, you will wreck your credit. Pay before you go. You will not like to come home to bad credit and someone looking for you to pay. You can also just keep mailing payments from wherever you are.
