How do i get a more positve credit rating?

I have paid collections on my report from several years ago (when I didnt understand the negitive impact.) Even though they are paid they still effect my credit rating. Can I do anything?

Couple things you can do, manage your credit card accounts by trying to keep your overall total balance low in comparison to your available credit. Pay all your debt on time. Even one payment 30 days late that occurs recently can have a significant impact. Collection accounts and late payments in most cases don't affect your scores after 3 years. They will always show up but in terms of the FICO output the longer they are in the past, the less the effect so if you paid "several years ago" there might be other factors affecting your credit. I suggest getting a copy of your report from all 3 agencies (Experian, Equifax and Transunion) and find out what the reasons are. They always list 4 reasons such as "proportion of total balance to available credit" or "Too many inquiries recently."
have you made sure they aren't appearing multiple times? sometimes when things move from creditors to collectors they get listed every time they move. its pretty easy to match them up and have them removed. also use your credit cards for small purchases that you know you can pay off every month.
Sorry. There is little you can do at this point but wait. As time passes the negative marks have less impact on your overall credit rating but they will not fall off for 7 years. Make sure that you continue to pay on time (always) any other debt you have, and slowly your rating will improve.
Good answer first one ,if you don't have a credit card go to a bank that has one and ask to restablish your credit. To
reestablish if put on the app. means it will have a better chance to pass.
Contact the 3 credit agencies dispute the charges as paid. Here's the thing, I had a horrible credit score some I paid some I didnt. Here's what I learned from a millionaire. Order your credit reports, dispute the charges as paid or not yours. They dont ask questions. The companies to which you are disputing payments have 30 days to furnish proof to the credit agency. If they dont they will take it off your credit report. Then they send you a update credit report that will say what they deleted(this will raise score), varified as yours(this will stay on until you pay it) You just keep disputing the items until they delete it from your credit report.
In your situation, just contact the credit agencies and dispute the accounts as paid. Creditreport.com is $24.95 for all three reports and scores.
Dispute all negative accounts on your credit report with the credit reporting agencies.
Whatever else u have on your credit report, pay on time..
