Well, I don't think that they can get your SSN just because you use your debit card. Otherwise any store clerk could get your SSN.
I am not sure about a prepaid debit card, but you could get a prepaid master card at like some convenience stores and I am not sure what all you have to do. I don't think it requires giving ur ssn. I think you just give the clerk some money and she does it for you and when u spend out u spend out and put more on it or throw it away.
