Which banks give debit cards to under 16s? (a 14 yr old)?
Answers:
Natwest do Card Plus accounts, with a Solo cash card, which can be used at ATM machines and to pay for things in shops. My sister has one and she is only 13, and me and my brother both had one when we were younger. You can upgrade it as they get older, like I upgraded mine to a Student account, and hopefully soon, a Graduate account. You usually get a free gift as well, I got a cd, though that was many years ago.
hsbc my son has one he is 14
none as far as I am aware
I dont think any do. I dont think you can have a debit card until you are 16, not like the type you use to pay in a shop. Some do Visa Electrons but these have been phased out and i think are also only available to over 16's- i may be wrong. I know that a more common option for younger kids is to have a savings bok where you can draw money as and when you wnat it. You can usually get these from 7 upwards.
Did you know you have to PAY off credit cards? That means you might as well use cash in the first place.
It's unlikely to be a debit card. It is, however, likely to be a cash card your 14 year old can use at ATM's to withdraw cash. All the major UK banks will give cash cards to 14 year old's.
Last time I checked, Natwest did, although I'm sure other banks do as well now. They know many people never change banks, we try to get you as soon as possible
How,how, how can a 14yr old child have a debit card?
Have a look at the selection of banking solutions on the following website for students and young people. (UK oriented)http://www.moneysupermarket.com/currenta...
none
because technically a debit card works without checking the balance, similar to a credit card. however....
lots of banks do accounts with visa-electron cards, which i know they give to 16-18 yos, not sure about under that though.
try halifax.
I dont think any do but there are prepaid debit cards which can be loaded with money and then used as a debit card. You can load them at post offices etc, I think the website to look at is which-pre-paidcard and tells you all the different ones. Can be used by children as they only have the credit that is put on them.
