A good credit card for me?
Answer:
You might not be able to get the lowest apr if you have no credit history. You might be better off getting a secured or prepaid credit card to establish credit history.
Look for a credit card that does not charge you a fee. & make sure the rewards aren't too restrictive when you can redeem them.
As for getting lower rates, you will get lower rates without reward/award points. Also, be sure to check how high the percentage of the balance must be paid each month. This is in addition to the finance charge. Credit Unions usually will grant a credit card to a young person but they charge higher repayment amounts (the percentage of the balance) but are more willing to take a change on you. Also, don't expect a high limit on the credit card. Once you have gotten one and paid it on time for a period of time you can then call other card companies and ask for a better deal with them. Ask for the manager or department head. You may have to ask several times and keep going until you get someone who will deal with you. Of course having a job and having held it for some time aids in getting that card. Good luck.
