If I pay off the collections from my credit report, will the collection companies remove the negative report?

Answer:
The only way to get a collection agency to remove the negative tradeline from your report is if you get in writing a paid for removal. It simply means that you get a written agreement to have the tradeline removed if you pay the amount agreed upon on the debt. With out this, they do not have to remove the tradeline. They simply have to mark the account as paid. A paid collection is no better than a unpaid collection.
They are supposed to but quite frankly very few do that. You'll have to get a receipt and forward it on to ALL THREE credit agencies and ask to have it removed.

No. they stick it to you. up the butt
Pardon the 1st response, but no.. unless you've worked out a deal with them or they want to be nice about it.

They are only obligated to report it as a paid collection account.

The fact that is is already paid gives them less incentive to remove it.. but if you speak to the right person on the right day.. .it's possible.
You can pay off the collections, the bad thing about doing this is when you do pay that debt it will still show on your credit report for another seven years as paid collection.
They may, but keep in mind they can report from 7 years from the last date of delinquency. However, you can dispute things through the credit bureau, and a lot of times they just go ahead and delete stuff. I've done it before over an old phone bill I didn't even know I had. When they finally caught up with me, I paid it right then and there over the phone. About 4 months later, I noticed it on my credit report as paid collection, though it had never shown up before. It was pretty odd, so I disupted it through the bureaus, and they deleted it. Ask and ye shall receive.
depending on the agency they keep it on your record from 7 - 10 years. as noted alreay they are able to remove it all depends on the time that it takes to receive the funds.
They are supposed to show it as a paid account. But it will still show taht it was paid late. If the do not update your information, you can file a dispute with the Credit Reporting Agency.
After paid in full it's up to each collection agency.then can and do remove if you play nice nice with them. collection agencies are more inclined to delete derogatory information then are law firms (lawyers are azzbutts) however, having said that, this will never apply to any bank or credit card company.they always go by the book.. remember.play nice nice
