Am I responsible for my husbands credit card debt even though I am not on the account?

We live in Texas. My husband takes out lots of credit cards for his own personal use.

Answer:
If you live in a community property state, both husband and wife are responsible for the others debt. If your husband left you or died you are still responsible for the debt unless you divorce and the divorce is final. Yes- credit card debt is owed by both husband and wife even if only one name on account.
No.. I do not believe you are.
Yes, they are debts incurred during the marriage and the courts have ruled that it is assumed that both parties have benifitted from the use of the cards. It would be different if the cards were issued to your husband as a business card, unless you were also listed as a co-owner of the business.
if he dies you are, but they are in his name so they are his problem, but you in some way would be paying for it, even if it him using the money thats meant for the family to pay off his cards
themnkid is correct. However, If your husband has a full time job (32 hours). You should have him sign up for the Credit protection. Just don't get those one that charge you an outrageous fee even when you have no balance.
I've been shredding credit apps unopened for a while so I might be wrong but don't you have to have your spouses signature on a credit app. He could be setting you up for big problems if something happens to him. Better check it out.
