When does the seven years start in NC?

Is it 7 years from the last payment, the date the debt was opened, or what?

Answer:
There are two differant timeframes related to debt.credit reporting and Statute of Limitations. Both are going to be differant, and will vary depending on the state you live in.

Credit reporting is 7 years, starting on the day you became delinquent on the account. NOT the last transaction date. NOT the charge off date.

Statute of Limitations is 3 years.

See the links below for more information.
it is seven years from the time of banckruptcy or the time of the last payment, whichever is later.
its the same in any state
7 years for what?

If your asking about a judgement, then its from File date.

Bankruptcies (ch 7) can stay 10 years

collections are from Date of Last Activity ( DLA )

NC statutes of Limitations is 3 years
It is not 7 years for all accounts, check out the credit report time line to determine how long each type of debt is http://finance-girl.blogspot.com/2006/09.
