I have had some good experiences.I mean after all they are just doing there job.If I didnt fall behind, I would never be getting calls in the 1st place so who else can I blame?
Yes and they are very persistent. There are laws though to protect you from harassment. try a search for information.
If you send them a letter saying to leave you alone, by law they have to.
Yes, be advised there are very strict Federal Laws that they must follow. The laws are there to protect you.

Also you can make them leave you alone forever by sending a cease and desist letter.

I had mean collection agencies trying to force me into selling everything I own to settle $30K in medical bills (that were the responsibility of my uninsured motorist car insurance coverage). As soon as you start talking about government collection and lender laws regarding harassment they will usually stop harassing you.
Be aware of your rights -- the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) says specifically what they may or may not do. Remember, though -- are you completely innocent in this picture?
The reason they are mean, and act the way they do, is because you don't know the law, and don't know your rights. As mentioned in a previous answer, once you let them know you understand the law and know how to defend yourself, the will generally leave you alone (ie stop harrassing you and simply proceed with collection work).
Read the Fair Credit Reporting Act below and find out what they are allowed to do.
