Most credit repair companies are scams so do not fall for it. The only legit way to fix your credit is to do it yourself. You could get a lawyer to do it, but more often than not, it will be very expensive and take extremely long, being that lawyers may have tons of clients making you the last on their list of priorities. Most of the time, signing up with these people makes your credit score drop even lower instead of bringing it up higher. Even seeing a credit counselor is bad because this also shows up on your credit as a negative. None of these companies or lawyers can do what you can't do yourself. Go to creditboards.com, sign up, and if you're serious about fixing your credit read all of the information people have posted. These are normal, everyday people who post and show you and tell you how you can fix your credit yourself. The only time you'll come out of your pocket is for postage when sending the dispute letters off (the site even gives you sample letters to use). I found this site a few months ago and my FICO score went from a 550 to 698. I definitely recommend the site for anyone serious about fixing their credit.
Be careful! I dont think there is any such *legitemate* thing. I have heard they are just scamming you for money that you dont have!
I don't think many exist. Most promise results that they cannot deliver. None can do anything more than you could do on your own with the proper knowledge.
Try doing a few things on your own to improve your credit. A credit counselor can provide suggestions and strategies for boosting your creditworthiness.
