A bank has sent me 2 credit cards when I do not need any. How do I get rid of these ?
They get activated only upon usage. Is it true ? Can I simply destroy these credit cards without using them ?
I have had a bad experience in getting the help-line agents to cancel the credit cards earlier, so do not want to call them this time.
The Bank has already linked the credit cards to my savings account. I can see the credit cards when I check my savings account through internet. Will they debit the annual charges even if I do not use these cards ?
Answer:
normally credit cards are not activated til you call the number they give you to activate it. Seems odd that they have already linked it to your savings account without you applying for the card in order to give them such detail. Are you sure someone else in your home didn't apply for the cards? Does anyone you know happen to know your bank info? I would call your bank and ask them to take the information out of your savings account and then call the bank that sent it (if it's not the same bank) then cut it into many pieces. Better safe then sorry.
usually it is recommended to cut them in 2 or more pieces across the magnetic strip.
cut them up!! dont use them. you get fees in an account if you use it! destroy now!!(in dalek vioce) destroy!
Take it from some who knows DESTROY them NOW!!
Credit cards are the best way to ruin your credit.
they will charge your account for the fees. i would go to my bank and cancel them if you do not want them. if you do it online or by phone you will not know if they cancelled it until you see the charges..
Call the bank, and tell them you did not ask for the,! Otherwise, they'll start charging you interest for those credit cards!
Go to the bank and get this straightened out asap. Tell them you don't want to get credit cards sent to you under any circumstances or you will take your business elsewhere. This is ridiculous.
i would phone your bank and cancel them if they aren't any help go in there and tell them straight you do not want credit cards and to not send you them! good luck x
Well its better u write to the bank to inform them your deciding to cancel the card and return it together with your letter then there will be no annual charge incurred. Also, you can tell the bank that u already had other credit cards and do not need so many cards unless the card is free and the bank will not charge the annual fee. The card can only be activated once u call the bank to let them know your intention to use it..
It sounds like these are debit, rather than credit cards if they're linked to your savings account.
Check with the bank about how to cancel these cards and get a regular ATM card. It might be a better idea to walk into a branch of the bank, rather than trying to deal with the bank over the phone.
In any event, don't assume that you can simply cut the cards in two and never use them. If the bank issued them, the bank will probably try to charge you a fee for issuing them.
call the bank and say hey i dont want your credit cards and dont send me any more of your junk then say you will not activat them then cut them up in bits and burn them so none can use them and talk to the bank manager and say stop sendig me this junk or i will go to my law office and have you done for bugging me
you should call the bank, there's probably a number on the letter that came with the card(s).and talk to Customer Service.
get them to cancel the cards.
then you cut the cards into pieces.
First find out who got these cards then cut them up then get take them out
If they have the exact same numbers on the front and on the back of the card. I would keep it. When you activate it. You will be able to use both cards. This way if one get worn out. You can use the other one. Yes the will debit the annual charge even if you don't use them. Just keep an eye that they could double charge the annual fee. If they are different numbers. Take it or call the bank and tell them to close one.
If you did not ask for them, you don't have to accept them.Cut the cards in half and return them.Write a short note telling them that you want the account closed.Thank you.
