I have an eviction on my credit record will that hinder me from getting a car loan?
Answer:
There are a few things you need to do and I'll help you with them. First, I'll answer your questions. Yes, having an eviction on your credit report will lower your credit score, making it harder to get a car loan or raise your interest rate on that car loan. Yes, every time someone besides you runs your report, it affects it negatively. The only exception is if several happen within a short period of time. In other words, if you go to a few dealerships and they all check your credit along with a few banks, only ONE of those will affect your report and the rest will not (in most cases).
Now, on to the false information on your report. How have you disputed the information so far? If you haven't done it by CERTIFIED MAIL, then you need to send a certified letter to them disputing the accuracy of the information. BE SPECIFIC. Don't say "this isn't my eviction". You need to be very specific. If you have receipts, letters, or anything like that proving you were never evicted, then include those with your letter. State clearly that you were never evicted and give the landlord in question's phone number and address for them to contact. If you could get a letter from the landlord yourself stating that you were not evicted, that would help a lot to.
Once you have sent this, wait 35 days for a reply. If they respond and say they verified that it is legit, then you send out a second letter by CERTIFIED mail stating that you are again disputing the accuracy and that they have 30 days to remove it or you will bring legal action. Wait 35 more days. If they still do not remove it from your report, consult a lawyer. You can sue and WILL win in this case.

Untill you can prove that your credit rating is wrong then no, you will find it very difficult indeed to get any credit what-so-ever. I suggest that you get in touch with Expreian or the citizens advice and see if they can help you. And no, your credit rating does not go down everytime you run it. Good luck !
The eviction is going to hurt your credit, there is no way around that without having it removed (which you are trying to do). Your credit score is affected by the number of times that it is checked, but unless you are getting pinged all the time you really shouldn't worry about that. If you have lived at your present residence for more than two years, and you have had the same job for more then two years, you can probably get a car, but the interest rate will most likely stink.
