How does one get a FREE Credit Score?

From my experience, obtaining your credit report is free , but your credit score is not. Any place that says it is free is only trying to get you to subscribe to their service first.
As for your social security number- thats needed regardless for obtaining your report and score. Thats how they find it, by that number and your name.
Getting your credit report is free. Getting your score is not.
You can't get a free score only a free report and they need your social security number in order to get that.
There is no such thing as a free credit score, only a free credit report. Unforutnately, to get your report, they have to have your SSN, since SSN have become a defacto national identification number, despite federal law. There is no way around it.
Getting your credit and credit scores require you to give a SS# so they can locate your file. You can get your credit report annually for free, but I have yet to find a place to get your SCORE for free.
The report is free they need you SS# so they can pull up your report. They can't pull it up solely on your name. Let's just say your name is Joe Smith...can you imagine how many Joe Smith's there are?!
