I just filed for bankruptcy, can I get a car?

Answer:
Since your debts are wiped clean, then you should save all the money you were paying to your creditor, in about 6 months , you should be able to buy a car for cash. if you cannot not mange to save the money maybe you shouldn't by one on credit. This is not meant to be mean, just realistic.good luck
Sure. If you have the cash for it.
If you have the title of the car they make you have an appraisal and if worth less than one thousand dollars you can keep it, if you have your car financed and you have a lot of equity in the car you loose it, but if you want to buy a car financed you must act fast before them people find out you have filed for bankruptcy. cyb
Probably, as car dealers know you can't do it again for 7 years. Several friends went that route and had no problem.
You probably can. Wait until after your bankruptcy is discharged. You'll have people begging you to buy stuff, especially on credit because you're less of a risk because you CAN"T file again for 10 years.
Sure, no problem, but be prepared to pay a high interest rate. It will be one of the highest you can get - now you will be high risk. It won't matter if its new or used. Good luck.
just filed .. meaning not discharged in court yet?
if so.. you cannot buy a car until bankruptcy has been completed in court
after that.. you can buy a car But will need a larger down payment than a person with good credit
and you will pay a hefty interest rate
bankruptcy stays on all 3 credit reports for 10 years from date of bankruptcy completed in court
Sure you can but be prepared to pay a higher percentage rate and they won't give you any brakes on a late payment. They might even put that into a contract stating after X late payments (maybe one) they have the right to repo the Car.
If you filed chapter 7 you cant apply for any credit until your bankruptcy is discharged. If you do and the court finds out they will dismiss your bankruptcy and you will be 100% responsible for all of the debt you're trying to get rd of. If you filed chapter 13, you actually have to get permission from the court to incur new debt.ie take out a loan or get a new credit card. again, if you do so with out te courts permission, your case will be dismissed and you will be responsible for all of the debt, plus the attorney's fees and the court costs plus the trustee's fees. I would pay cash for a beater for now.
I did it four months after I was dischared from my bankruptcy and were not talking about a cheap truck. You will get TONS of offers because they know you cant file again for 7 years.
Yes, you can either pay cash for it, or if you have a job, pay 25% interest with a substantial down payment.
Realize that your interest rates will be through the roof but yes you can get a car and a home and all kinds of stuff now but don't get back into the debt trap all over again. The penalty for debt after filing bankruptcy is where they give you free room and board. in prison!
