After cleaning up one credit how can one get more credit?
Answers:
Here's some things that you can do in order to rebuild credit.
1. Become an authorized user- If you have a close friend or family member with excellent credit, ask them to add you to one of their oldest credit cards that's in excellent standing. There would be no need for a card in your name, as this would be for reporting purposes only. Ideally the account that you would want to be added to is one that has been opened for at least 3 years or more, with a high limit, low balance(30% of the available credit), and a perfect payment history. Once you're added, the activity will reflect on your report, giving you instant boost to credit.
2. Open up a secured card- This is the EASIEST type of credit card to get. Granted, you would have to put a deposit upfront that's usually tied to a savings account in order to get the same amount in a line of credit. You can think of it as building credit with a savings account. The deposit wouldn't be able to used to pay what's charged or the mimimum payment unless the account was deliquent and charged off then the deposit would be used to offset the delinquency. You can also boost your credit line by adding to the deposit periodically, which would help for future offers for credit becuase of the high credit line. Usually after a year of paying on time and keeping the balance low (30% or less of the available credit), the deposit is no longer needed and refunded back to you, and a better card is offered, or the card converts to an unsecured card. Orchard Bank offers a variety of cards for rebuilding credit, includling secured ones in the event that you don't qualify for an unsecured one. I posted the link to their website where you can apply.
