My friend in US wants to send money to me. But he does not want to spend $40 on a wire transfer. what to do?

Answer:
he could send a international draft in the mail
I don't blame him for not paying the fees as you should be
I hope this isn't one of your famous scams from India
Go to a bank and get a foreign bank draft (it's like a cheque) a lot cheaper. Would take a couple of days to get and then it needs to be sent to you so not a fast way.
direct bank account deposit !

if you have a indian bank account or something, they can deposit into your bank account
If your friend is sending money to you, you should pay for the wire fees.

If you don't want to do that, then have him send an international money order or a check!
