I filed for BK 10/05. I want to reestablish my credit. Any ideas. I have an orchard bank c.c?
Answer:
pay cash
Keep it paid off. Use it for little things like buying gas, but always pay it off, or at least make the minimum payment on time. The key is paying on time. Good luck.
i can help u out. Send me some cash and i'll help you out.
Keep your debt down, use your CC for simple things, then pay it off monthly. You'll still have the BK on your credit report for about 7 or so years, but creditors are always willing to work with you if you show you're improving!
good start with the orchard bank card. just keep the balance on that thing small and do not exceed 50% of the total limit. once you do, it sends a red flag to the reporting bureau and will negatively affect your score until it gets below that 50% mark again, just remember, gas and groceries. that's the only thing you should use that card for.
Keep it paid off and be patient. A BK stays on your credit for 10 years, so even though you can work at raising your FICO score, your BK will be on there for a full 10 years. Some places do not grant credit to people that have filed BK regardless of their credit score. I am not sure where people are getting "7 years for BK" it's 10 years a FULL 10 years. It's sadly 7 years before you can file ANOTHER Bankruptcy if you were dumb enough to get yourself back into the same situation. Let me add this .. I do believe there are a lot of people that legitimately have to file BK for one reason or another, once in their lifetime.. but these people that are filing every 7 years need to be checked out more thoroughly. I have an acquaintance that's filed twice and she's not even 40 yet and it's ALL because she can't stop using credit cards and making bad credit and buying decisions. It has nothing to do with medical bills, unemployment, life changing events.. or anything else. She just can't stay out of the stores and she can't stop wanting to keep up with the Jones'
