How do you find out who stole your id?

Answer:
While victims rights' have improved over the yrs, I'm not sure you could find out by yourself.
Work with your local police dept and find out how much you can do. Can you view security tapes from stores where stolen cards were used? Can you personally go out and ask questions at locations where stolen cards were used?
You could interfere with the investigation and that is a lose-lose for everybody. You need to make it harder for the thief to continue to use your identity. Make that paper trail he is leaving work to your advantage.
Don't try and figure it out yourself; gather your documents and turn it over to the police. Be sure to alert your card issuers and credit bureaus, too.
