A house fire destroyed my credit. How do I get an unsecured loan? I am listed on prosper but have had no bid

We lost our home to a fire and because we were underinsured I used my credit cards to buy clothes and necessary items for my 3 children and myself. It's astounding how much it costs to clothe a family when you have nothing but what you were wearing. The first weekend it cost $1350 just to get everything we needed for a week. Now the cost of living has sky rocketed and with gas at $3.50 per gallon and my sons graduation I can barely afford the minimum payments on these cards. Although I pay every month I am often late and the CC companies add on a late fee which has made me over the limit on some so now they are charging over the limit fees too. I have contacted every one of these companies and although they have reduced my monthly minimum payment they are still charging these fees.

I posted a question a few weeks ago and was told to go to prosper.com. No luck. There are so many listings on that site that I don't even think mine has been seen.

This is sooo frustrating.

When you listed on prosper.com want interest did you state that you are willing to pay? How much did you request? What credit rating did they assign you? If you don't mind what was the title of your loan? GOOD LUCK
Cut up your credit cards. Ask for help form your local church and from your friends. Be humble through tough times and help someone else when your life is better.
I can understand how frustrating this must be for you. Unfortunately, the only way you can stop the credit card companies from adding fees is to get your balance below the credit limit and to not be late. Make sure however, not to let your cards go into default! If your cards go into default, you're looking at 7-10 years of a negative trade line appearing on your credit report, which can seriously hurt you down the line.

My suggestion would be to keep paying your reduced payments from your credit card companies until you can hopefully bring it down below the limit. I also would recommend not to close them, also. Keep them open as a closed credit card account can also bring down your credit score.

I wish there was a simpler way, but as the average american holds $5,800 in credit card debt themselves, it's very difficult to find those that would be able to help you as well.

Best of luck to you.
