Can a loan company refuse to accept a payment?

Answer:
Your question is too general. The genenral answer would be yes. There are lots of variables, so you have to be more specific.
depending on the legal status(if court action is in process and you're paying with a check), it's very possible
Yes! I work for a loan company and if your account is past due they can refuse a partial payment, or just one payment if the account is more than one payment past due. Or if legal action is pending, they can refuse payments then too. Most won't if you're promising to catch the account up completely, but they can if they want to. It's their prerogative.
yes
