Credit Reports?

How long after filing bankruptcy is the bankruptcy supposed to fall off your credit report? I filed 8 years ago, my credit score is over 700 and was denied a refinance on my house because my bankruptcy is still on my report. I was p*ssed cuz a credit score of over 700 is pretty good and I thought the bankruptcy was supposed to be off the report after 7 years. Anyone know anything about this?

Get some great insider info on credit repair at the site below. This is the stuff the credit companies don't want you to know about. Don't pass this up.

bankruptcy is public record and can stay on forever..but if your score is over 700 and were denied, apply somewhere else--your credit is good enough to get a good rate somewhere
NOTHING "falls off" your credit report, you have to ASK for it to be removed.
Bankruptcy will stay on your record for 10 years. If your score is
that high there might be something else on there. Get a free report.

Information can stay on a report nine years or longer AFTER the debt is considered closed. If you pull a copy of your report you should see under each item how long it is suppose to stay active or listed.

You need to request directly from the credit bureaus rather then some of the other services as they often create a 'composite' report from all three but leave off this important detailed information at the end of each listing. Since you recently applied and were denied credit this will be free but you need to list when the report was pulled and by whom when requesting a copy from each company and usually by old fashion letter, no quick on-line options usually for detailed reports.
Bankruptcy stays on your credit report for 10 years. Even with your score, it still concerns some lenders to know you've filed. Don't worry, you're in the home stretch. Mine slipped away quietly into the night in 2004 never to be heard from again.

Congrats on maintaining a high score after the fact.
There are many lenders outthere willing to refi you, and most of them don't even care if your Bankruptcy has passed 3 years. Each lender has different policy, it's best to discuss with their Specialist before apply.

Your best route is to go with a reputable broker, he will find a best lender and a best rate for you .
