How can i clear my credit rating debts have bee cleared for months experian want proof?
Answer:
dcparis has it backwards.
It's not your responsiblilty to prove you do not owe the debt. The creditor has to prove that you do.
You can send all sorts of evidence to the credit bureau, and it will not get the listing removed. The ONLY way a listing can be edited/deleted is if the creditor does it himself, or if they fail to respond back to an investigation request.
All you have to do is protest the credit listing to the credit bureau. Explain that the bill was paid. The credit burear must then contact the creditor who listed it on your report.
If the creditor does not respond back to the investigation, then your listing will be deleted.
If the creditor tells them the listing is correct, then your next step is to contact the creditor and demand a debt be "validated". That means they must send you proof you owe the debt. That includes contracts, bills, receipts, and everything that was used to calculate what they claim you owe.
If this information does not match what you have, then they have violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act by posting inaccurate information to your credit report. They can be sued for $1000 in small claims court.
So follow this procedure. Contact me if you need more help with this.
have you not got updated copies of your statements? If you have paid them off then your statements will prove this. Then send copies to Experian.
Your credit rating will remain at your current level for a number of months, whilst you have to prove that you are no longer a risk. If you can meet regular payments and do not skip for 6 months then your rating will begin to improve
Good luck
Receipts or letters are really the only proof you will get experian or equifax to move any debt as satisfied but even when satisfied it can still take upto six years from date of satisfaction.
Write to the companies you know have been paid and get it in writing then send it to experian or equifax. It wont happen overnight though.
